Since 2004, the Department of Nurse Anesthesia Distance Education has partnered with the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Va., to offer programs using state-of-the-art telecommunications technology. These technologies include two-way synchronous video conferencing, satellite downlinks and Web-based lessons. Face-to-face instruction is also provided on-site by VCU faculty as well as simulation laboratory training.
